Privacy Policy
How CarLarp collects, uses, and protects your information.
1Who we are
CarLarp (“the app,” “we,” “us”) is a car-spotting game operated by
Raymond Calubayan. This policy explains what information the
app handles when you use it. If you do not agree with it, please do not use CarLarp.
2Information we collect
- Account information. You can use CarLarp as a guest with no account. If
you choose to sign in, we use Sign in with Apple, which gives us an
anonymised Apple user identifier and a relay email address. Apple's sign-in sheet may also
offer to share your name; CarLarp does not store or use it.
Guest sessions are identified only by an anonymous identifier created on your device.
- Photos you capture or import. When you catch a car, the photo you take
(or a photo you choose from your library to identify) is processed for recognition and, if
the catch is saved, stored with your account.
- Approximate location. If you grant location access, we record where a
catch happened only as a deliberately blurred coordinate. Your position is
snapped to an area of roughly a city block on your device before anything leaves the phone,
and is never drawn on the map tighter than about 800 metres. We do not collect or store your
precise location.
- Gameplay data. The cars you catch, your score, level, quests, and who you
follow.
- Profile information. A username, an optional avatar photo, and an optional
home city, if you set them.
- Purchases. Purchases are processed by Apple. We receive confirmation that
a purchase occurred and what it was for; we never receive your card or payment details.
- Diagnostic and product data. Limited technical logs used to keep the app
working, and a record of cars the app could identify but had no class for — the car's name,
plus an anonymous identifier for your installation — which is how we decide which cars to add
next. We do not use third-party advertising or tracking SDKs, and we do not track you across
other apps or websites.
- Onboarding answers. Your answers to the two questions when you first open
the app (how often you spot great cars, and which car you would catch first), linked to your
account identifier. We use them only in aggregate, to understand players and improve the
game, and they are deleted with your account.
3How we use your information
- To identify the cars you photograph and score your catches.
- To run the game: your Garage, collection, levels, quests, and leaderboard rank.
- To show catches on the Radar as an approximate heat map.
- To operate social features you choose to use — the feed, following, and profiles.
- To process purchases and provide membership benefits.
- To keep the app secure, prevent abuse, and fix problems.
4Car recognition and service providers
Identifying a car uses a combination of on-device processing and a cloud service. When cloud
recognition is used, the car photo is sent to a third-party AI provider (Google) for
the sole purpose of identifying the vehicle. We rely on the following providers, who
process data on our behalf:
- Supabase — hosting, database, authentication, and photo storage.
- Google (Gemini API) — cloud car identification from your photo.
- Apple — Sign in with Apple and in-app purchases. If you turn on
“Save shots to Photos”, each catch is also written to your own camera roll, which your device
may back up to your personal iCloud. That copy belongs to your Apple account, not to us.
We do not sell your personal information.
5What other players can see
CarLarp is social by design, but you control your exposure:
- When you sign in, you are given a randomly generated username (such as “Larper20492”) so
you appear on the leaderboard straight away. It is not based on your name, email or Apple
ID, and you can change it to one of your own at any time.
- If your profile is public, your username, avatar, and catches can appear
on the leaderboard, the feed, and the Radar. A catch’s photo is shown to others only where
your username already is, and only when you have chosen to share that catch’s photo.
- If your profile is private, your catches stay off other players’ Radar and
your profile is not shown to others, regardless of other settings.
- You can report or block other users, and hide content, at
any time. Reported and blocked content is removed from your experience, and every social
view filters blocked, hidden, and reported content.
6Location, in detail
Location is optional and used only to place catches on the Radar. The exact coordinate is
never transmitted or stored: it is blurred on your device to about a city-block-sized area
before it is saved, and the map never renders a catch more tightly than roughly 800 metres.
You can turn location off in your device settings at any time; the app still works without it.
7Data retention and deletion
We keep your information for as long as your account exists. You can delete your
account at any time from within the app (Settings → Account), which removes your
profile, catches, and associated data from our systems. Some records may be retained where
required by law or for legitimate security purposes.
8Security
Data is transmitted over encrypted connections and stored with access controls that limit each
account to its own data. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, but we take
reasonable measures to protect your information.
9Children
CarLarp is not directed to children under 13,
and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has
provided us information, contact us and we will remove it.
10Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal
information, or to object to certain processing. You can exercise most of these directly in the
app, or by contacting us at the address below. If you are in the EU/EEA or UK, our lawful bases
for processing are performing our contract with you (running the game), your consent (location),
and our legitimate interests (security and abuse prevention).
11Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by a new
effective date at the top, and where appropriate we will notify you in the app.

Terms of Use
The agreement between you and CarLarp when you use the app.
1Acceptance
By downloading or using CarLarp, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree,
do not use the app. These Terms are between you and CarLarp, which is operated by Raymond Calubayan; Apple is not a party to them.
2Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old, or the
minimum age of digital consent where you live, to use CarLarp.
3Your account
You are responsible for activity under your account. Sign in with Apple secures your account
through Apple; keep your Apple Account secure. You may use the app as a guest, with limited
features, without an account.
4Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Upload content that is unlawful, infringing, harassing, hateful, or that depicts other
people without a lawful basis;
- Photograph or upload images in a way that invades others’ privacy, or capture identifiable
people, faces, or license plates where you have no right to do so;
- Cheat, automate, script, or otherwise falsify catches, location, or scores;
- Reverse engineer, interfere with, or attempt to gain unauthorised access to the app or its
systems;
- Use the app while operating a vehicle, or in any unsafe or unlawful manner.
5Your content
You keep ownership of the photos you upload. You grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide,
royalty-free licence to host, store, display, and process that content only to operate
the app — for example, to identify a car, generate render art, and show your catch on
surfaces you choose to make public. You are responsible for the content you upload and confirm
you have the right to upload it. We may remove content that violates these Terms.
6Purchases and subscriptions
- CarLarp+ is an auto-renewable subscription, offered monthly and yearly. It
unlocks additional renders and membership perks.
- New subscribers to the yearly plan may be offered a 3-day free trial.
Unless it is cancelled at least 24 hours before the trial ends, it converts automatically
into a paid yearly subscription at the price shown when you signed up.
- Render credit packs are one-time consumable purchases.
- All purchases are processed by Apple and charged to your Apple Account. Subscriptions renew
automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Manage
or cancel anytime in your Apple Account settings.
- Except where required by law or Apple’s policies, purchases are non-refundable. Refunds are
handled by Apple.
- Virtual items such as renders and credits have no monetary value, cannot be exchanged for
cash, and may be forfeited if your account is closed for a violation of these Terms.
7Recognition is not guaranteed
Car identification is automated and may be inaccurate or incomplete. Scores, tiers, and render
art are provided for entertainment and are not statements of fact about any vehicle.
8Intellectual property
The app, its design, and its content (other than your uploaded content) are owned by
CarLarp and protected by law. Vehicle names and marks
belong to their respective owners and are used for identification only; CarLarp is not
affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any vehicle manufacturer.
9Disclaimers
CarLarp is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, whether
express or implied, to the fullest extent permitted by law. We do not warrant that the app will
be uninterrupted, error-free, or accurate.
10Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, CarLarp will
not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any
loss of data or profits, arising from your use of the app. Nothing in these Terms limits
liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.
11Termination
You may stop using CarLarp and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate
access if you violate these Terms or use the app in a way that harms other users or our
systems.
12Apple
These Terms are between you and us, not Apple. Apple has no obligation to provide support or
maintenance for the app. Apple is not responsible for any product claims, legal claims, or
third-party intellectual-property claims relating to the app. Apple and its subsidiaries are
third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you. You confirm you are
not located in a country subject to a U.S. Government embargo and are not on any U.S.
prohibited-parties list.
13Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of New Jersey, USA,
without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules, except where local consumer-protection law grants
you stronger rights.
14Changes
We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the app after a change means you
accept the updated Terms.
